Eng: Various appointed Secretaries of State for Education from July 5 2022

Postby Debbie_Hepplewhite » Tue Jul 05, 2022 11:06 pm

Turmoil in England's Conservative Political Party as two Ministers of State resign on the same day because of loss of faith in the leadership of Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

Michelle Donelan is appointed the new Secretary of State for Education to replace Nadhim Zahawi who is to be the new Chancellor of the Exchequer:

Next day:

I started this thread too quickly as dramatic circumstances unfold in the UK. Michelle Donelan didn't last a day - she has resigned along with high number of other ministers and aides:

All of this to unseat Prime Minister Boris Johnson, reported to be resigning his position later today (Thursday 7th July)!

There has been huge political turmoil in the UK, and now at the time of posting this message, Rishi Sunak is the new Prime Minister replacing Liz Truss who was the PM only for a matter of weeks.

Rishi Sunak has re-appointed Nick Gibb and Robert Halfon which is a very interesting development. It is doubtful that England would be the world-leader in its official promotion of evidence-informed reading instruction had it not been for the long-standing commitment of Nick Gibb to get on board with the need for systematic synthetic phonics (SSP):
