New York City is lost. Totally.

Post by Debbie_Hepplewhite »

A distraught teacher describes her experiences of a totally unacceptable state of affairs - so how much does this description match a lot, if not most, of the state of affairs in schools in New York City - and beyond?

Teachers not trained, children taught in methods that will damage their reading reflex and understanding of how to lift the words off the page - and accusations of some very unprofessional practice of people in authority deliberately wanting dumbed-down children to keep their schools filled.

The thing is, this is not the only time I have heard of this state of affairs in America.

Does this reflect practice and attitudes elsewhere in the world? You can bet your bottom dollar it does!

'NYC is lost. Totally.'

By Bruce Deitrick Price

The following letter (sent via iPhone) is from Marilyn T., a teacher. She has worked in the greater New York City area for many years and wants everyone to know how debased and crazy our classrooms have become. She sums it up this way: “NYC is lost. Totally.”

Every American should be keenly concerned about understanding and saving New York City, because your own city is probably using the same bad methods and heading toward the same level of failure.
